What's the difference between a snuffbox and a tobacco shaker? A snuffbox is generally a box with a lid that allows access to the plug by pinching tobacco strands. A secouette is a closed container. Tobacco comes out of an opening by shaking the object in the direction of the palm of the hand, between the thumb and forefinger.
