Léopold Beau ( - )

Born in Morlaix, into a family of wealthy merchants. Elder brother of Alfred Beau, a famous Quimper earthenware maker. Léopold lived off his artistic talents. He seems to have learnt his trade from Delaroche, a painter of historical subjects. Léopold was a "naturalist" painter with meticulous, realistic graphics, animated by some characters. He exhibited watercolours inspired by Brittany at the Paris Salons from 1831 to 1836. He got married in 1840 and became a drawing teacher. The family lived in Lesneven and received many artists, painters and lithographers.
