Gaston Le Mains ( - )

A French painter born in Tours, Gaston Le Mains studied under Henri Lehmann and Antoine Guillemet. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1879 and received a medal of honor at the 1900 World’s Fair. A watercolorist and landscape painter, he is particularly known for his views of streets and Breton scenes, which he renders with great sensitivity to light and atmosphere. His work reflects a keen observation of the landscapes and daily life of the late 19th century.
