Suzanne Guéguen ( - )
Suzanne Guéguen (1900–1979) was a 20th-century Breton painter who was particularly drawn to depicting folk traditions and everyday life in Brittany.
She drew her inspiration from pardons, religious processions, traditional costumes, and village scenes. Le Folgoët, Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, Plougastel, and Morlaix were among her favorite subjects.
Using gouache, watercolor, and ink, she created lively, colorful scenes in which the richness of the costumes and the vibrancy of the gatherings took center stage. Her work offers a sensitive portrayal of Brittany and its traditions.
She participated in the Salon des Indépendants between 1923 and 1925 and was the subject of a retrospective at the Maison de la Bretagne in Paris in 1960.
