Louise-Marie Acoquat ( - )
Louise-Marie Acoquat was a French artist active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Trained at a time when women's access to artistic institutions was still limited, she developed a demanding practice rooted in the figurative tradition.
Her works—mainly portraits, figures, and genre scenes—are distinguished by an intimate approach and a measured palette, favoring sensitivity of gaze over formal effect. Active during the interwar period, she participated in the artistic life of her time, probably through group exhibitions or regional circles. She was present at the 1910 Salon des Artistes Français with a market scene in Le Conquet.
Louise-Marie Acoquat, who died in 1939, is now considered one of the rediscovered artists whose work sheds valuable light on French female production in the early 20th century.
