René Quéré

René Quéré was a French painter and ceramist, born in Ploaré (Finistère) and died in Douarnenez. He trained at the Quimper Regional School of Fine Arts in the 1950s, where his teachers included Jos Le Corre and Pierre Toulhoat. There he learned drawing and painting while training in ceramics at the Keraluc pottery.

In 1956, he moved to Douarnenez, where he developed a figurative style of painting inspired by the maritime landscape, fishermen and Breton life. At the same time, he continued to work with ceramics, creating unique pieces and decorative panels for local businesses and ships in the region.

Quéré exhibited regularly in Brittany, Paris and abroad, and his work is featured in several public and private collections. He died in 2021, leaving behind an artistic legacy combining painting and ceramics, deeply rooted in Breton culture.
