Emmanuel Marcel-Laurent ( - )
A painter and watercolorist with deep ties to Brittany, Emmanuel Marcel-Laurent devoted his work to seascapes, harbors, and scenes of coastal life. A member of the Concarneau group, he distinguished himself through his mastery of light and marine atmospheres, as well as his unique sensitivity to Breton traditions. His style oscillates between realism and the decorative inspiration of the 1930s and 1940s, resulting in lively and expressive compositions. He was appointed painter to the Navy in 1942. His works are held in several public collections, including the National Maritime Museum.
