J. A. Lijour ()

Lijour was a laboratory assistant at HB, where he prepared the chamotte clay used by Giovanni Leonardi during his summer stays in Quimper between 1922 and 1956. Between 1930 and 1940 he made a series of pieces with this same clay, his inspiration being daily life and wrestlers. His naive style can be compared to art brut. He certainly produced little and this piece must be one of his greatest achievements. He left HB to retire in 1941.
