Gabriel-Charles Déneux ( - )

Gabriel-Charles Déneux was born in Paris in 1856. He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts where he was a student of Gérôme and Cabanel. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1880. Curious about all techniques, he practiced wax and egg painting. He painted portraits of contemporary actors, genre scenes, Breton pardons, landscapes of France, Holland, Sicily, Greece, Morocco and the Sahara. A painting without emphasis where the melting of values prevails over the precision of the line.
