Marguerite Soudanne ( - )
Marguerite Soudanne was a 20th-century ceramicist. She trained at the École nationale des Arts décoratifs in Limoges under the tutelage of Charles Bichet, where she was awarded the Grand Prix in July 1917. That same year, her father, Gustave Soudanne, offered his services and those of his daughter to Jules Verlingue. Both eventually moved to Quimper in 1918.
Marguerite then joined the Fouillen workshop within the HB factory. Her talent was recognised at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, where she was awarded the bronze medal in the ceramics section, whilst her workshop supervisor received the silver medal.
In 1926, the Soudanne family left Quimper for Boulogne-sur-Mer to work at the former Jules Verlingue pottery, then run by Henri Delcourt. After the factory closed permanently in 1932, she continued her work at the Faïence d’Art de Sainte-Radegonde, near Tours. Marguerite passed away in Tours in 1976, having retired there.
